Mark Williams, a local filmmaker and veteran, was honored with the Sentinel Award at the inaugural Swan Lake Film Festival today — he was recognized for his service and creative work.

The Sumter school board voted four to three to remove rezoning and realignment discussion from Monday's meeting, opting instead for a comprehensive facilities study — a necessary step before any master plan changes.

Trustees said the study will guide future decisions.

Gov. Henry McMaster announced on Tuesday that South Carolina awarded 228 Rural Health Transformation Program grants totaling $167,299,900.69 to boost primary, maternal, infant, pediatric and behavioral care in rural communities.
