Trevor Ivey, CEO of Liberty STEAM Charter School Foundation (the first Sumterite on the board since Bonnie Disney served), was unanimously elected to the State Board of Education by the Third Judicial Circuit Legislative Delegation today.
He will assume the role after his predecessor stepped down.

After traveling to Crestwood on Monday, Sumter High's Lady Gamecocks hosted a tri-match with Wilson Hall and East Clarendon on Thursday — keeping the local volleyball scene active this week.
Laurence Manning won 24 to 6 against East Clarendon on Friday, Aug.
21 even as the team faced a setback with their head coach hospitalized.
